Lillian Madeje
Hometown: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Born: Mwanza

Lillian describes life in Tanzania:

I am from a business city of Tanzania, I moved to Dar es Salaam at five years of age. Since it’s a business city, a lot of development is visible. There are malls of which I think when I compare them to malls in the America they would be called mini malls.  On weekends we usually go out to our movie theater to watch movies. Saturdays is usually a lazy day which I either spend at home or I would go and visit some of my friends in town and just have fun talking. Sunday is mostly a family day, whereby I start with going to church and maybe visit family or they come and visit. There is a hangout place called “the Slipway,” and it is basically where you would find lots of young stars in town chilling while dreading the blue coming Monday. This is just how a typical weekend for teenagers in my community would be like. Of course, there are exceptions when there are parties and games to attend.
