Christian Fatu
He began studying at an early age and made his debut at the age of 16 with the National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Bucharest, Fatu also performed with the symphonic orchestras in Iasi, Botosani, Arad, Galati, and Ploiesti. In 2001, the Romanian Union of Musical Critics awarded him the Young Musician debut prize. He also is the prize winner of the renowned national and international violin competitions, including the Jeunesses Musicales, Remember Enescu, Mihail Jora, W.A. Mozart, Rovere d’Oro, Citta di Stressa. In 2002, he represented Romania at the Classical Eurovision Contest in Berlin, Germany. He has also participated in the music festivals in Germany (EXPO2000 Hannover), Tunis (L’Octobre Musical de Carthage), Austria (Europa Wochen and International Music Summer Academy, Prag-Wien-Budapest), Romania (Katzendorf, Shumsky, Prometheus). He also performed in the Students Music Festival in Kyoto, Japan in 2003. Fatu graduated in 2002 from the George Enescu Music Lyceum where he was a pupil of Mihaela Tomescu. He received a Socrates-Erasmus Scholarship and continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Köln with Professor Mihaela Martin. In 2006, he graduated from the National University of Music Magna cum Laudae in Bucharest under Professor Gabriel Croitoru. He has also studied Stefan Gheorghiu, Mihaela Martin, Robert Szreder, Erich Gruenberg, Sergiu Schawartz, Sherban Lupu, Philippe Koch and Vladimir Spivakov. Born into a musical family in Bucharest, Romania in 1983, Christian Fatu plays a remarkable violin made in 1942 by Friedrich Kleverkaus from Kronstadt.
