Audition Dates
Audition Date for the upcoming semester is:
Piano auditons:
Saturday, August 16
10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
String auditons: Saturday, August 25
10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Audition Requirements
The following is a list of the audition requirements for each category. Instruction is limited to Piano, Violin, Viola, and Cello.
Piano
For Beginners: Musicianship tests on rhythm, hearing, and singing.
For Intermediate: Two contrasting pieces within 15 minutes.
For Advanced and Scholarship applicants:
1) Any work of J. S. Bach,
2) One fast movement of classical sonata,
3) One etude and
4) Free choice pieces.
The entire program should be within 30 min.
Violin
For Beginners: Musicianship tests on rhythm, hearing, and singing.
For Intermediate: 3 octaves of scale and two contrasting pieces within 15 minutes.
For Advanced and Scholarship applicants:
1) One etude from R. Kreutzer 42 studies, P. Rode, J. Dont, H. Wieniavski, or N. Paganini,
2) Any movement from J. S. Bach’s unaccompanied sonatas & partitas,
3) One movement of a concerto, and
4) Free choice pieces.
The entire program should be within 30 min.
Cello
For Beginners: Musicianship tests on rhythm, hearing, and singing.
For Intermediate: Two contrasting pieces within 15 minutes.
For Advanced and Scholarship applicants:
1) One etude
2) One movement from a Bach solo suite
3) One movement of a concerto, and
4) Free choice pieces.
The entire program should be within 30 minutes.
