IS 450: Systems Analysis Senior Seminar
Course Description:
This is a capstone course in which seniors exhibit skills and knowledge gained in the
analysis and design of an information systems solution. Students will apply best practices
in solving an organizational problem with technology. Such concepts include: problem solving,
methodology, project management, and use of related tools. Prerequisite: IS 317. 3:0:3
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

Demonstrate key concepts of analysis and design as well as advance techniques
such as JAD, Prototyping, USE CASES and/or other OOA/OOD techniques.
- Communicate both orally and in writing as an individual and as a member of a team.
- Complete a formal approach to problem solving utilizing technology and process-management tools.
- Perform skills necessary for a career in Information Technology.

Instructors will utilize various exercises in analysis and design to evaluate
student's ability to demonstrate objectives and understand concepts.

A group project will be used to evaluate student's ability to work with others as a team, collaboratively.
The project will have multiple tasks for which a team must decide how to accomplish the tasks and achieve
a desired end result.

Tests will be used to evaluate student's ability to understand terminology
and basic concepts of applying data management. This should include at minimum a final
and include at least one or more of the following: short answer, trace given
code, debug given code, and/or develop a fragment of code given a problem description.
