Our MajorsThe ICS Department offers a variety of majors and they come in one of two formats. For those interested in a traditional daytime program, we offer an "umbrella" ICS major with 16-week courses taught at the Parkville campus. For those interested in an accelerated format, we offer three majors with 8-week weekend/evening courses taught at various sites throughout the United States (including three campus centers in the Kansas City area) and Online. The 16-week-format ICS major is an umbrella major in that it covers several different areas: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Analysis, Data Management, and Networking. ICS students choose one or more of the five areas and then take courses from that "specialty area(s)." In addition to taking their specialty-area courses, all ICS students must take common courses from the ICS core curriculum. Park offers three 8-week-format majors - Computer Science, Computer Based Information Systems, and Management/Computer Information Systems. The Computer Science major approximates the 16-week-format ICS Computer Science degree. The Computer Based Information Systems major approximates the 16-week-format ICS Systems Analysis degree. The Management/Computer Information Systems major is a combination of the ICS core curriculum courses plus business and management courses. --------------------------------- University ResourcesThis page was last modified on Friday April 04 2008 |
