Community Outreach

Park University is committed to internationalization at home as well as abroad. These programs embody this dedication to globally knowledgeable students, even if they cannot travel overseas.

World Trade Center

Park University offers programs in cooperation with the World Trade Center of Kansas City. Activities that are offered as part of this program include:

Global Future

Global Future is a joint program between Park University's Office of International Education and Study Abroad and the World Trade Center of Kansas City. This program invites local international business leaders to speak to students from Kansas City's universities. The students receive college credit for attending the lectures and taking a supplementary course. Over six years, 36 sessions have been offered to students from eight different area universities. In the spring of each year, Park University Global Future participants travel to Washington, D.C. for four days of meetings with international business leaders.

People to People International

Park University has the only university-level chapter of People to People International. Its student members participate in a variety of events throughout the year, including the following programs:

  • Coming to America
Once a month, Park international students speak to other students and faculty about their home countries. Each session, five students from different countries on one continent talk about their home country's language, culture, and traditions. Once a year, the best presenters speak at the annual national 4-H conference for high school students.
  • International Classroom Partnership Program
One of our most famous programs, the ICCP takes international students from Park University and sends them to local grade schools. The students talk about their home countries to grade school students, their parents and teachers. Each year, we visit 5 different schools, offering a total of 20 sessions per year. Currently, the schools Park works with are in the North Kansas City school district.
  • Model United Nations
Park University's Model United Nations program is one of the most successful in the Midwest. Bringing together American and international students, this authentic simulation of the U.N. General Assembly and other multilateral bodies gives Park students experience in the world of diplomacy and negotiation. Each year, Park's Model U.N. delegation attends the American MUN conference in Chicago, Illinois and the National MUN in New York. Additionally, Park University annually holds a similar MUN program for Kansas City high school students. This year, the Park MUN had over 200 participants.
