For ParentsWelcome to Global Education at Park University. The Office of Global Education and Study Abroad is pleased to congratulate your son/daughter in choosing to participate in an international program at Park University. The Office of International Education and Study Abroad offers a variety of opportunities for experiencing various cultures across the globe. Participating in international programs can be a life-changing experience contributing to your child's academic and personal growth while attending Park University. The Office of Global Education and Study Abroad at Park University strives to provide an international experience that we hope will be fulfilling and transforming. Sometimes international experiences may be frightening, discouraging, or challenging. It is normal for student participating off-campus in an international program to experience culture shock during their trip. This page is designed to assist parents preparing their students for any challenges during the course of study abroad program. The safety and security of our participants are of the utmost importance to our office (see the Study Abroad Handbook). For students who study abroad, our office will provide a study abroad handbook, arrange pre-departure orientations and provide other study abroad materials to make the experience of your children long-lasting (see Risk Management). Students participating off-campus in other international programs will receive similar preparation. You might want to consider obtaining a valid passport in case of emergency where your presence will be desirable (please visit http://travel.state.gov/ for more information). Although the incidences of such kind are few, it is still helpful to join your children, if required by any circumstances. If you have any further questions or comments, please email us at apeterson@park.edu, call (816) 584-6510 or visit our web site. --------------------------------- University Resources |
