Brazil Service-Learning ProgramDuring spring or fall break, Park students enrolled in certain courses have the option of traveling to Brazil for ten days of classes, sightseeing and service learning. Service-learning is a learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. Park students will participate in community service work with members of the "favelas" or slums, of Recife, a city in northeastern Brazil. Located on the Atlantic coast, Recife is known as "the Venice of Brazil" due to many intersecting waterways and bridges. You will enjoy sightseeing and the beautiful white sand beaches of the Brazilian coastline. To participate, Park University students must enroll in one of the regular courses being offered with a service learning component.
