Applying for Your Veteran Benefits
Establishing VA Educational Benefits: Students who
have never received benefits must apply with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The DD22-1990 or VONAPP form may be found online at
http://www.gibill.va.gov. Students who
have previously received benefits may be required to complete a DD22-1995
Request for Change of Program or Place of Training form.
Certificate of Eligibility
After the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) has
processed the VONAPP the student will receive two copies of a Certificate of
Eligibility. This is a one time event; changing programs or place of training
will not produce another Certificate of Eligibility. One copy is for the student
to keep the other copy should be provided to
the
Student-veterans using Montgomery G.I. benefits must
verify their hours through the Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE).
For continuing students, the DVA averages 4-6 weeks for payment of benefits. The
payment of benefits for new or transfer students may take 8-10 weeks. Payments are sent directly to the
student veteran for this program as well as 1606, 1607 and DEA benefits.
Student-veterans using Post 9/11 G.I. Benefits are
certified after attendance is verified. Tuition & fee payments are sent directly
to the University. Student-veterans eligible for BAH and/or book stipend
payments will receive them directly.
