Why Study Computer and Network Security?
Securing the computers and networks that host our information systems is considered the most pressing concern for business and organizations not only in the United States but around the world.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the increasing importance of information systems security will result in a strong demand for IT workers skilled in this trade well into the next decade.
Because computer and network security cannot be outsourced overseas, employers in this country are urgently seeking qualified candidates in this fascinating and rewarding career field.
Park University's CNS Program is Designed for IT Professionals Working in Corporate, Government, Military and Other Environments
Lightning-speed innovation in the world of Information Technology (IT) has revolutionized the way the world does business. Cutting-edge computer technologies mean that businesses, organizations and individuals around the globe can connect with one another in a matter of seconds, delivering information, services, resources and products in ways that are high-tech and high-touch.
But this new world is fraught with risk. The pervasive use of technology has spurred specialized criminal activity (everything from hacking to identity theft and cyber terrorism) which is increasingly difficult to prevent or even detect. As a result, a new area of expertise has emerged within the field of IT and is suddenly in demand by government, military and other organizations — the information systems security professional.
In response, Park University, a long-time leader in offering innovative degree programs, has launched a new graduate-level certificate program in Computer and Network Security. Offered through its Master of Public Affairs (M.P.A.) degree program, the certificate is designed for IT professionals looking to enhance their careers with documented skills in securing computing infrastructures to protect and defend information and information systems.
