Park University Selected “Military-Friendly School” for Sixth Consecutive YearThursday, December 19, 2013
Dec. 19, 2013 — For the sixth consecutive year, Park University has been selected as one of the top military-friendly colleges and universities in the country by Military Advanced Education magazine.
Park was selected for inclusion on the list in the magazine’s 2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities, which provides information about the wide range of benefits the 500 schools provide in four key categories of consideration to service members, veterans, spouses and dependents (in order of assigned weighting):
• Support services (such as having an on-campus veterans center, faculty trained in veteran reintegration issues and full-time counselors trained in veteran-specific mental health concerns)
• Flexibility (having online learning options, extent of transfer credits accepted by degree level, presence on military installations)
• Financial assistance (providing in-state tuition for active duty service members, Yellow Ribbon program, veteran work-study program, military student-specific scholarships, tuition discounts/scholarships for dependents)
• Military culture (having on-campus ROTC, MyCAA approved, membership in Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges)
The Military Advanced Education honor is yet another in a string of recent tributes to Park University’s efforts to educate members of the U.S. military. In November, Military Times, an independent source for news and information for the military community, ranked Park No. 5 among all private colleges/universities in the country and No. 8 overall in the “online and nontraditional” category in its “Best for Vets: Colleges 2014” rankings. And in September, Park was named a military-friendly school by G.I. Jobs magazine for the fifth consecutive year.
