Collins Elected Chair of Park University’s Board of Trustees

Michael CollinsMichael Collins (right), a 2004 Park University graduate and resident of Kansas City, Mo., has been elected chair of Park’s Board of Trustees for 2015-16. Collins is the president and chief executive officer of the Port Authority of Kansas City, Mo.

The Board of Trustees, which is comprised of alumni, business, civic and philanthropic leaders, and other constituents who advocate on the University’s behalf, also elected three new members to serve on the Board. Elected to a three-year term:
          •  James Cornelius — A resident of Kansas City, Mo., Cornelius (lower left) is the president of institutional banking and Lt. Gen. Richard KellerN. Lynn CragheadJames Corneliusinvestor services at UMB Bank, Kansas City, Mo., where he is responsible for leading the business and strategic direction of the division. Cornelius, who has been at UMB Bank for three years, has more than 25 years in the banking and finance industries.
          •  N. Lynn Craghead — A resident of Kansas City, Mo., Craghead (center) is the senior vice president at U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corp., the community development subsidiary of U.S. Bank. Craghead has been with USBCDC since 1998 and is primarily responsible for identifying, underwriting and closing direct investment opportunities that generate low income housing tax credits in Midwest markets.
          •  Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Richard Keller — A resident of Leavenworth, Kan., Keller (above right) has served as chair of the Command and General Staff College Foundation Senior Advisory Council at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., since June 2013. His last assignment before retiring from the U.S. Army in 1996 was as chief of staff for the U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.

In addition to Collins being elected chair, the Board elected its officers for the 2015-16 year:
          •  Thomas Holcom, Kansas City, Mo., vice chair
          •  Richard Thode, Raytown, Mo., secretary
          •  Scott McRuer, Parkville, Mo., treasurer
          •  C. Ann Mesle, J.D., Kansas City, Mo., immediate past chair
          •  Roger Hershey, J.D., L.L.M., Independence, Mo., assistant secretary
          •  Ami Wisdom, Parkville, Mo., assistant secretary

The following Board members were elected to serve new three-year terms on the board:
          •  Collins, second term
          •  McRuer, second term
          •  Mark Foster, J.D., Kansas City, Mo., second term
          •  Judith Simonitsch, J.D., Independence, Mo., third term

The Board of Trustees also approved promotions for the following faculty (effective Aug. 1):
          •  Virginia Brackett, Ph.D., Kansas City, Mo., from associate professor of English to professor of English. Brackett is also director of the University’s Honors Academy.
          •  Dong Hwa (Donna) Choi, Ph.D., Liberty, Mo., from associate professor of education to professor of education. Choi also serves as program coordinator of early childhood education.
          •  Eric Click, Ph.D., Kansas City, Mo., from assistant professor of public administration to associate professor of public administration. Click also serves as program coordinator of public administration.
          •  Jeff Ehrlich, Ed.D., Parkville, Mo., from assistant professor of healthcare administration to associate professor of healthcare administration. Ehrlich is currently serving the University as interim president.
          •  Robert Schneider, Ph.D., San Marcos, Texas, from instructor of management to assistant professor of management.
          •  Marthann Schulte, Portsmouth, Va., from associate professor of education to professor of education. Schulte also serves as area coordinator of adult education.
