Park University will celebrate its annual Homecoming Weekend
, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-19. Most events will take place on the University’s Parkville Campus, with a number of events open to the public.
Highlighting the weekend of events is the Park University Alumni Association
’s 67th annual awards luncheon on Friday, starting at 11:30 a.m., at the Hilton President Downtown Kansas City Hotel, 1329 Baltimore, Kansas City, Mo. The ceremony will honor Park alumni and supporters, including: •
Jack Fowler, ’54, will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award, which recognizes Park alumni who have distinguished themselves through career service or community achievements. Fowler is the past president of the Boulder (Colo.) Area Realtor Association and owner of Fowler Real Estate Inc. •
Tim Decker, ’82, will receive the Marlowe Sherwood Memorial Service Award, which recognizes Park alumni for volunteer service to community/civic organizations. Decker is the director of the Children’s Division of the Missouri Department of Social Services. •
Ed Bradley will receive the Torchlighter Award, given to honor individuals who have made significant, long-standing contributions and commitment to Park University, whether alumni, faculty or friend. Bradley is the retired president and chief executive officer of Bank Liberty and is a founding member of Park’s School of Business Advisory Council. •
Wayne Wilbourn II, ’10, will receive the Park Promising Young Professional Award, which recognizes a Park alumnus/a who shows exceptional promise of leadership and contribution to their profession and/or community. Wilbourn is the deputy chief information officer at the Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms (Calif.).

A celebratory ribbon-cutting for the new home of the Ellen Finley Earhart Department of Nursing
will also be held on Friday, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., in the University’s new Academic Expansion Space in the Parkville Commercial Underground
. The public is invited to join Park employees, students, alumni and invited guests at the event, which will also celebrate a major milestone -- the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing’s accreditation of Park’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Completion Program

Park’s No. 7 ranked women’s volleyball
team will host Hannibal-LaGrange University on Friday at 7 p.m. inside Breckon Sports Center • Women’s
and men’s soccer
matches against Freed-Hardeman University on Saturday at noon and 2 p.m., respectively, at Julian Field •
The crowning of the 2015 Homecoming Court at halftime of the men’s soccer
match (approximately 3 p.m.) •
A Park VIP tent at the Riverside Music Fest on Saturday, from 6 to 10 p.m., at E.H. Young Riverfront Park.
