The 2016 Park University Golf Scramble, a four-person tournament that benefits the University’s athletic programs, is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 10, at The National Golf Club of Kansas City.
Golfers get on the course with a shotgun start at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. An awards program will be held immediately follow the completion of the tournament at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Tournament sponsorship fees are $175 per golfer or $700 per four-person team, and includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, lunch on the course, driving range access prior to the event, on-course games and contests, and refreshments. Park University’s athletic programs are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the American Midwest Conference. The University competes in 13 intercollegiate sports: men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, soccer, track and field, and volleyball; men’s baseball; and women’s golf and softball. In 2015-16, Park had 102 academic all-conference honorees, 43 all-conference performers, eight All-Americans, one CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-American and six CoSIDA academic all-district honorees. In addition, 34 Park student-athletes won the NAIA’s most prestigious academic award as Daktronics-NAIA scholar-athletes. The 2014-15 year was highlighted by eight Park athletic programs representing the University in NAIA national championship tournaments and one conference regular-season championship by the softball program. Two athletes were selected as conference player of the year in their respective sports, while two more were tabbed as newcomer of the year and freshman of the year. In addition, Steve Tingler was named AMC Softball Coach of the Year.

The National Golf Club of Kansas City is a 7,037-yard, par 72, 18-hole Tom Watson signature designed course featuring five sets of tee locations plus two combination sets of tees. The course, located a few miles north of Park University at 6700 N. National Dr. in Parkville, just off Tom Watson Parkway (45 Highway/NW 64th St.) between I-29 and I-435, opened in 2001 and features stunning elevation changes, zoysia fairways and bentgrass greens. The National serves as one of two home courses for Park’s women’s golf program and will host the first round of the Park University Fall Classic on Monday, Oct. 17.
