2007-8 Multicultural Calendar of Events

The Faith Club
Description: What happens when an
Episcopalian woman tells a Jew she didn’t want people to
think she was Jewish? When a Jew questions a Muslim’s
claim that the Israeli government displaced her
Palestinian ancestors? When a Muslim challenges a Jew
for her unconditional support of the current Israeli
state? In today’s contentious political climate, these
confrontations incite world wars. But, in THE
FAITH CLUB: A Muslim, A Christian, A Jew—Three Women
Search for Understanding, these issues were a reason for
Ranya Idliby, Suzanne Oliver, and Priscilla Warner to
have another meeting and a cup of tea. Meet the
authors of THE FAITH CLUB—three women who came together
in the wake of 9/11 to write a children’s book about the
commonalities of their three religions. Groundbreaking,
timely, and refreshingly honest, THE FAITH CLUB is an
intimate look into the conversations the three shared as
they worked to transcend religious barriers, to overcome
stereotypes and misunderstandings, and to deepen their
own religious commitments and beliefs.
