Although Park’s roots are based in a 130-year history rich with traditional academic excellence, we are today very “non-traditional.” That’s because Park University specializes in high-quality educational services, delivered in innovative ways, that allow working adults and military service personnel to complete their degree and advance their career.

Non-Traditional Learning from a Traditional University

Park University offers you a striking diversity of educational offerings, delivery methods, locations and fellow students. Over 21,000 students annually take advantage of Park’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Students study at our campus centers located nationwide. They also study Online from locations around the world.

Work and Military Credit

Your experience counts at Park! You may qualify for up to 24 hours of class credit through our Validated Learning Equivalency Program. In addition, credit toward major core requirements may be awarded for satisfactory completion of the CLEP/DANTES/USAFI/Excelsior College Subject Examinations.

Park awards members of the military four semester hours of lower level electives for completion of Basic Military Science and six semester hours of upper level electives for completion of Advanced Military Science. Plus, Park University accepts transfer credits from a wide variety of accredited colleges

College for Distance Learning

Although Park’s association with the U.S. Military dates to 1889, it flourished with the establishment of the Military Resident Center System (MRCS) in 1972 and with Park’s development of accelerated, eight-week courses. With the advent of Online learning, the program has evolved into the College for Distance Learning which coordinates two schools – the School for Extended Learning (on-site, classroom studies) and the School for Online Learning.

School for Extended Learning

Park University’s School for Extended Learning programs can be found on Campuses located on military installations, community colleges, local shopping centers, and the Internet. At Campuses with a physical location, classes may be offered during lunch, evenings, and weekends. If a student is interested in the Online courses, these may be taken in conjunction with face-to-face courses offered at physical campuses or through the Distance Learning campus.

The degrees and majors offered at each Campus Center differ according to the needs of the sponsoring authority or the local students served. That personalization contributes to the fact that Park offers one of the nation’s largest accredited degree completion programs in the country.

School for Online Learning

Are you ready to work on that degree you need to get ahead at the office? Do you want to take a course this semester but your work schedule makes it impossible? Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, our Online Degree Programs offer the ease and convenience of earning a degree or taking individual courses at your own personal computer, at your own pace -- no commuting, no childcare, no more excuses.

The U.S. Military encouraged Park to make learning more accessible. As a result, Park University became one of the first accredited universities in the country to develop an Online learning degree completion program. Our Online program features over 175 distinct courses and hundreds of course sections.

Our Online instructors are particularly well-qualified. All Online instructors have advanced degrees, and all have taught their Online classes in a face-to-face academic environment. In addition, each instructor has completed an intensive training and certification program to develop the unique skills necessary for meeting the needs of Online students.

The majority of Park’s Online students report that they actually perform better than they do in traditional, face-to-face classes. Over 90% say they plan to take another class and would recommend Park’s Online classes to a friend.
