Meet the Staff
Ben Dewberry, Director of Residence Life and Education
Karie Schaefer, Residence
Life Coordinator and Resident Director of Copley Quad
My name is Karie Schaefer, Residence Life Coordinator for the Office of Residence Life and Education. I am proud to be a Park Pirate for life. As the RLC I am here to help you with a variety of housing concerns and questions ranging from applying for housing through ensuring an amazing campus life experience. I hold a B.A. in Communication Arts with an emphasis in Photojournalism and an M.A. in Communication and Leadership. While I still enjoy photography as a hobby; my current career path has steered me toward focusing on ResLife and Higher Education. I am passionate about creating an environment for students to learn and interact outside of the classroom and there is no better way to build that relationship then to be a part of it myself. The best part of the Park University campus community is the family bond that is established almost instantly after stepping foot onto campus. It definitely becomes a home away from home. I am a huge people person and enjoy spending free time with my family and friends. I also enjoy baking, fitness and exploring the great outdoors. Be sure to make the most of any opportunity given to you because you never know where it might lead you.
Samantha Gross, Resident
Director of Chesnut Hall and Conference Services Specialist
My name is Samantha Gross, but most people call me Sam. I am the Resident Director of Chesnut and Conference Specialist. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Communication and Leadership with an emphasis in organizational communication and leadership. I love having the opportunity to work so closely with students in order to help them develop into well-rounded leaders in whatever field they choose. Being in such a close community allows me to see firsthand what our students are accomplishing.
Ben Zibers, Student
My name is Ben Zibers and I am a Graduate Assistant with Residence Life and the Student Leadership and Engagement Office. I have a strong passion and desire to help those around me and those in need, and I love to innovate and create new things. I believe strongly in the value of people and the value of writing. I have two undergraduate degrees from Park University. The first is in English Literature and the second is in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Communications. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Public Affairs with an emphasis in Disaster Relief and Emergency Management. With my Masters, I plan to help inspire awareness and preparedness strategies that can help people and property to maintain its worth and security. My role in the University is to assist with Residence Life Senior Staff Duties and special projects. Other roles include serving and coordinating the Park Student Activities Board, organizing and facilitating University Organizations, and working to coordinate and facilitate service trips for our campus populations. I particularly love the fact that the jobs that I do are ever-changing and fast paced; especially working in housing. I love the challenge that every day brings and the opportunities for purposeful and personal developmental moments.
