The Park University Department of Public Safety is staffed 24
hours a day 365 days a year.
The Department consists of two divisions: The Patrol Division
and the Fire-Emergency Management Division. A Sergeant heads the patrol division
and a corporal heads fire-ems, both divisions are staffed by officers with
varying degrees of experience and education.
The Department of Public Safety has three types of employees:
- Full-time Uniformed Officers
- Student Officers
- Dispatchers (Full-time and Student)
The Public Safety Officer's duties include:
- Patrolling the Main campus, Buildings and Commercial Underground areas.
- Maintaining order on campus and during special events.
- Enforcement of University policies (traffic, drug, alcohol).
- Investigation of Criminal Activities on University premises.
- Responding to Medical Emergencies*
- Securing and Unsecuring buildings and doors at scheduled times.
- Inspection of Fire Extinguishers and Smoke Alarms.**
- Checking for Safety Hazards.
- Emergency Management Planning.**
* Officers are trained in First Aid, CPR and AED usage

The Public Safety Dispatcher's duties include:
- Dispatching Public Safety Officers when and where needed.
- Answering and Monitoring Public Safety Radio transmissions.
- Monitoring and Alerting Officers of Severe Weather Conditions.
- Providing Information to Visitors, Staff and Students.
- Taking calls on the University telephone system.
- Providing Quality Customer Service to the Public.
