The Park University School of Business is pleased to announce the appointment of  Mr. Robert D. Mayer, as the inaugural Executive-in-Residence for the 2009-2010 academic year.  Mr. Mayer is President of M R Capital Advisors LLC, an independent company which works in the origination and placement of commercial loans, development strategies, and financial incentives for real estate projects.  Mr. Mayer will bring to the Executive-in-Residence program a wealth of experience in commercial real estate, banking, and in the nonprofit sector as well.  He has assisted both for-profits and nonprofits in business development and public incentives.

Prior to M R Capital, Mr. Mayer served as Vice President, Commercial Loan Office for the national GMAC Commercial Mortgage Corporation for five and a half years in the Kansas City region.  He successfully originated and funded $200 million in loans for office, multifamily, retail, and industrial products.

Mr. Mayer is the founding President of The First Step Fund, a successful micro-enterprise loan and education organization for disadvantaged entrepreneurs.  This Kansas City based nonprofit has been recognized nationally for its success.

He still serves on the board, and works with the Missouri Legislature to promote economic development incentives.

Appointed by the Dean of the School of Business, the Executive-in-Residence is designed to attract a senior executive who brings additional energy, vitality, and perspective by working with students and faculty to inject ‘real world’ experience into the classroom. The executive is selected based on their ability to introduce industry-specific perspectives which compliment current curriculum in the core disciplines of accounting, economics, finance, management, and marketing.  Areas of participation will include serving as a guest lecturer in selected classes; interacting with Park University students in a mentor capacity; engaging faculty in professional development areas, designing, managing, and presenting at conferences/symposiums on topics in his area of expertise; participating in faculty meetings and University functions; serving as an ambassador-at-large to promote the School of Business and Park University; serving as an honorary member of the School of Business Advisory Board, and other functions with the School of Business and the University.
