Pennsylvania State Education Grant

Pennsylvania offers the PA State Higher Education Grant to full-time or half-time undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. Recipients must be a resident of Pennsylvania attending a PHEAA approved program of study. Grant recipients cannot already possess a baccalaureate degree and must be a graduate of an approved high school or a recipient of a Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma. Grant amounts vary but may not exceed $2,632 for full-time study and $1,316 for half-time study at approved institutions in Pennsylvania during the 1996-97 academic years. Limited funds are available for study at non-Pennsylvania schools. The filing deadline is May 1 for most programs of study. Consult with the school to confirm this deadline. All applicants must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to be considered for the grant. Applications are available at most libraries, college financial aid offices or high school guidance offices.
