Writing Competency Test (WCT) Requirements:

The WCT is a requirement for completion of the Bachelor’s degree.  This requirement will not be waived.

  • The WCT should be taken immediately after EN106 but must be taken not later than the term the student accumulates 60 semester hours – and must be completed prior to taking EN306.

  • For transfer students with more than 60 hours, EN105, EN106, and the WCT must be completed during their first three terms of enrollment at Park. Students are strongly encouraged to take the WCT at least TWO terms before they plan to take EN306.

The Scott Campus Center offers the WCT on the third Friday of every month except June.  Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., at which time you will pay the $15 fee.  The test will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.  Completed WCTs will be sent to the Parkville Campus immediately after testing, and are scored on specific dates. WCT results will NOT be available until at least three weeks after test date (longer during the summer). The “PASS” result will show on the student’s transcript, and may be viewed in OPEN.

Students may not register for EN306 until WCT scores are received. This policy will not be waived. Failure to comply with this requirement will delay graduation.

The student should take three to four weeks to prepare for the WCT. The first portion of your WCT package is full of excellent study resources designed to help you understand and pass the test.  For additional test preparation assistance go to http://www.park.edu/support/testprepare.asp .
