About the Program
Park University's social work degree program prepares students for beginning professional practice in a wide variety of social service settings. As generalist social work practitioners, graduates will be prepared to work with a diverse client population, particularly those who are vulnerable or economically deprived. The program includes both classroom work and two-semester field instruction in a social service setting. Students considering social work as a major at Park must have a strong desire to help others help themselves as they resolve personal, social, or environmental problems. While it is both challenging and rewarding, the practice of social work requires a sharp intellect, empathetic interpersonal skills, good personal adjustment, and a commitment to maintaining ethical relationships with colleagues, staff, supervisors, and clients.
