About the Program

Considering a social work major?
Many students who plan to earn a master's degree in social work choose social work as their undergraduate major at Park, which enables them to earn their graduate degree (M.S.W.) in about one year if accepted to advance standing.

Park University's social work degree program prepares students for beginning professional practice in a wide variety of social service settings. As generalist social work practitioners, graduates will be prepared to work with a diverse client population, particularly those who are vulnerable or economically deprived. The program includes both classroom work and two-semester field instruction in a social service setting.

Students considering social work as a major at Park must have a strong desire to help others help themselves as they resolve personal, social, or environmental problems. While it is both challenging and rewarding, the practice of social work requires a sharp intellect, empathetic interpersonal skills, good personal adjustment, and a commitment to maintaining ethical relationships with colleagues, staff, supervisors, and clients.
