  1. Completion of 45 credit hours of college coursework
  2. A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or higher. (GPA is computed on all college credits, including transfer and Park University credits.)
  3. Two letters of reference, one of which must be from a college faculty member. The second letter may be from a faculty member or another person known in a professional capacity.
  4. Successful completion of Park University’s Writing Competency Test
  5. Completion of the following courses with a grade of C or better:
    1) EN105 and EN106 or equivalent English composition courses
    2) SO141 Introduction to Sociology
    3) PS101 Introduction to Psychology
    4) SW 205 Introduction to Social Work
    5) MA120 Basic Concepts of Statistics
  6. Completion of all required materials in the Bachelor of Social Work admissions packet

Admission to the Social Work Major

Admission to the major is contingent upon review and approval of the above criteria by the Park University BSW Admission Committee.

SW 330 Social Welfare Policy and Programs (3 credits)
SW 335 Social Work Research* (3 credits)
SW 305 Human Behavior in the Social Environ I (3 credits)
SW 405 Human Behavior in the Social Environ II (3 credits)
SW 310 Social Work Practice I Indiv & Families (3 credits)
SW 320 Social Work Practice II Groups (3 credits)
SW 410 Social Work Practice III Org. & Comm (3 credits)
SW 420 Field Instruction I (5 credits)
SW 421 Field Instruction Seminar I (1 credit)
SW 430 Field Instruction II (5 credits)
SW 431 Field Instruction Seminar II (1 credit)

TOTAL: 45 credits,  2.50 GPA
*A pre-requisite course, Basic Concepts of Statistics (MA 120),
is required for Social Work Research.

Major requirements for a degree program are established by the University catalog at the time the major is declared.
