Criteria for Admission: Social Work Major
In accordance with CSWE accreditation standards, the social work program does
not grant course credit for life experience or previous work experience.

Completion of 45 credit hours of college coursework
- A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or
higher. (GPA is computed on all college credits, including
transfer and Park University credits.)
- Two letters of reference, one of which must be from a
college faculty member. The second letter may be from a
faculty member or another person known in a
professional capacity.
- Successful completion of Park University’s
Writing Competency Test
- Completion of the following courses with a grade
of C or better:
1) EN105 and EN106 or equivalent
English composition courses
2) SO141 Introduction
to Sociology
3) PS101 Introduction to Psychology
4) SW 205 Introduction to Social Work
5) MA120 Basic Concepts of Statistics 6) EN306b Professional Writing in the Disciplines 7) Two semesters of foreign language
- Completion of all required materials in the Bachelor
of Social Work admissions packet
Admission to the Social Work Major
Admission to the major is contingent upon review and approval of the above criteria by the Park University BSW Admission Committee.
