Members of the BIT
The threat assessment team would be facilitated by:
- Dean of Student Life for situations involving students
- Director of Public Safety for situations involving non-affiliated persons
- Director of Human Resources for situations involving faculty/staff
Additional members of the core Behavioral Intervention Team include:
- Chief Housing Officer
- Counselor
- 2-3 Representatives from Academic Affairs
Various issues require the input of different individuals with varying expertise and perspectives. Only those needed to assess and manage a specific incident will be included in dealing with that situation. Among those who might be called upon to participate in a Behavioral Intervention Team meeting include:
- Dean, Associate Dean, and/or Department Chair
- Assistant General Counsel
- Chief Communications Officer
- Risk Management Personnel
- Counselor and/or Nurse Practitioner
- Student Services Deans and Directors: Career Development, Academic Support Services, Student Assistance Center, Athletics, Student Financial Services, PSSC, etc.
- Associate Dean of the College for Distance Learning
- Director of Accelerated Programs in the Kansas City Area
- Campus Center Director (by phone or in person)
- Regional Directors (by phone or in person)
- Any other individual with knowledge of or expertise related to the situation
- Parkville Police Department Representative
- Platte County Sheriff's Department representative
