About The DegreesThe Theatre/Performance degree is an interdisciplinary program that includes foundation courses in traditional theatre studies (such as acting, directing, vocal performance, and the history and literature of the theatre) and three courses in individual and group psychology and one course in Shakespeare. Inclusion of these courses in the major offers an opportunity to acquire a double major (or a minor) in Psychology, Art, Design, or English. The strengths of this program include the opportunities for acting, directing, and script-writing for students. The interdisciplinary nature of the program requires intensive attention to oral and written skills and the development of creative, "out-of-the-box"-style thinking that is in great demand in a broad spectrum of professions. The Theatre/Technical Design degree is an interdisciplinary program that includes foundation courses in traditional theatre studies and six courses in Fine Arts and Interior Design. The core courses of the degree program offer students a variety of opportunities for hands-on creative production work and a solid foundation for their future theatrical endeavors. Park's Minor in Theatre Arts is designed for students who have a passion for theatre and who desire to enhance their university experience beyond their majors. The minor provides students with opportunities to develop vocal and physical presentation skills. Park has numerous minors, students and alumni who are active in theatre activities at the University, including acting, directing, playwriting, publicity, and technical production.
