Faculty Certification Program (FCP)

The Kansas City Professional Development Council (KCPDC) has developed a certification program to provide faculty (full-time and adjunct) with the tools and resources for becoming more effective in the classroom. Participants may choose to attend one, some, or all of the program classes. To receive certification all six core classes and two designated electives must be completed within three years. Classes are offered once per academic year.

Face-to-face seminars
Park employees can take advantage of any face-to-face Fred Pryor or CareerTrack seminar at no cost. Each seminar runs for about a day with some offered in half-day or two-day formats.

Online Course Offerings
When time away from the office is not an option, then online seminars become a great resource. Park employees can take these online Fred Pryor or CareerTrack self-paced seminars at no cost. Duration times range from one to six hours depending on personal schedules. Seminar topic categories include:

Park University is one of the original founding members of the Kansas City Professional Development Council (KCPDC), a consortium of seven greater Kansas City-area two- and four-year colleges and universities. The council supports a comprehensive and systematic approach to faculty and staff development. All KCPDC programs, conferences, and workshops are offered free-of-charge to its member institutions.

Leadership Development Program (LDP)

"Leadership is not just for people at the top. Everyone can lead by acquiring the power to make a difference and to be prepared when the call to lead comes," says John G. Agno, Certified Executive and Business Coach. As a leader, your actions speak for not only yourself but for Park University. What you do and say, what you model and endorse reflects the culture of our school. Developing and enhancing your leadership skills is a personal and professional pursuit. The following titles outlines a series of seminars designed to help you along on your development path.

New Employee Orientation (NEO)

This class introduces new Park University employees to a variety of services, activities, and procedures. More details to come.

Supervisor Development Program (SDP)

Sponsored by the Kansas City Professional Development Council (KCPDC) this program is designed for supervisors, those aspiring to be supervisors, or anyone interested in learning more about supervision. The program consists of seven core classes and one elective topic. Each four-hour session is hands-on and interactive. Simulations and skill practice will be used when possible. The content is practical yet generic enough to apply to a variety of higher education environments. Participants may choose to attend one, some, or all of the program classes. To receive certification all seven core classes and one designated elective must be completed within three years. Each class is offered once per semester/twice per year.

Workplace Issues (WPI)

The Workplace Issues Series is sponsored by the Kansas City Professional Development Council (KCPDC). Employees participating in the seminars can learn new skills, build relationships, and share ideas with colleagues from other institutions, and have some fun in the process.
