At Park University, our Minor in Peace Journalism program is designed for students wishing to hone their communications skills and enhance their peace credentials. Whether you are interested in taking the first step towards a career in the field or pursuing further study, the peace journalism minor is an excellent first step towards a career in communications, international development, or international relations.

Locations & Learning Options

As a student in our Minor in Peace Journalism program, you’ll be required to take face-to-face classes at our Parkville, Missouri campus. This minor requires a total of 21 completed credit hours, and students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Whether you are planning to attend graduate school in communications, or if you are interested in a career in communications, non-profits, international relations, international development, or social work, the study of peace journalism will put you on an accomplished career path. Students who pursue the Peace Journalism Minor take courses in topics such as the fundamentals of writing for media, multicultural communication, introduction to peace studies, as well as a special topics seminar and learning capstone.

Program Highlights

The Minor in Peace Journalism at Park University, offered within the School of Humanities, is ideal for students studying humanities, social work, psychology, sociology, international relations, international development, or political science and are interested in pursuing communications. Students in this program learn through hands-on experience in a peace journalism apprenticeship seminar and attain in-depth knowledge of the field through an integrative and interdisciplinary learning capstone in peace journalism.
