What is a skilled helper certificate?

Social psychology blends the strengths of psychology and sociology. It studies the “person in the situation,” and integrates knowledge about individual, group, and organizational processes.

Park University’s A Skilled Helper (Adult & Pre-Adult) Certificate program is designed for students pursuing careers in therapy, life coaching, social work and more. Students in the program learn specialized guidance and counseling tools designed to deal with aging, gender, family and other social or psychological issues of adulthood.

Locations & Learning Options

As you pursue this certificate, you can to take face-to-face classes at our Parkville, Missouri campus, at one of our Kansas City area campus centers, or at one of over 40 campus centers nationwide. You may also take classes online.

The A Skilled Helper Certificate requires a minimum of 15 completed credit hours. Refer to your catalog for a complete listing of coursework for this degree.

skilled helper adult Program Highlights

After developing a knowledge base in guidance and counseling, students in the program will learn principles of cross-cultural psychology, study adult development and aging, the psychology of gender, and explore the study of the family.
