The International Center for Music at Park University has announced the 2016-17 schedule for its upcoming 13th concert season — one that will include a variety of performances with internationally renowned guest artists and the ICM’s own award-winning faculty and students.

The ICM’s 2016-17 concert season will kick off on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Mo., with a special “Virtuosos of the International Center for Music” concert. This concert, which was originally scheduled to be held on May 4, was postponed the night before due to injuries sustained by ICM Artist-in-Residence Behzod Abduraimov. The rescheduled concert will include performances by Abduraimov; the Park Piano Trio (pianist Stanislav Ioudenitch, violinist Ben Sayevich and cellist Daniel Veis, all ICM faculty); pianist Lolita Lisovskaya-Sayevich, ICM collaborative pianist; and violinist David Radzynski, concertmaster of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra who earned a graduate certificate in violin performance from the ICM in 2014.

Abduraimov will play a special concert on Thursday, Nov. 3, at the Karbank 1900 Building in Mission Woods, Kan. This event will be a preview of Abduraimov’s performance in New York’s Carnegie Hall on Thursday, Nov. 17. This concert is a private event for donors to the ICM Student Scholarship Fund (minimum $100 contribution).

Another special concert will feature Radzynski (accompanied by Lisovskaya-Sayevich) in a solo performance at the Karbank 1900 Building on Saturday, Sept. 24. Tickets for this concert are $40.

The first of four events in the ICM’s International Guest Artist Series will be on Saturday, Oct. 8, in Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel on the University’s Parkville Campus, featuring pianist Plamena Mangova. Additional concerts in the series, all to be held at the Karbank 1900 Building, include: violinist Shmuel Ashkenasi and pianist Meng-Chen Liu on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017; Abel Pereira, principal horn (French horn) of the National Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, March 23, 2017; and violinist Anton Barachovsky on Friday, April 21, 2017.

The husband and wife duo of Veis and pianist Helena Veisova will perform a recital concert on Saturday, April 8, 2017, in Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel. Two additional concerts have been scheduled for the Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 28 (ICM Young Artist Showcase), and Saturday, March 4, 2017 (ICM Side-by-Side), with performers to be announced at a later date.

Tickets for the “Virtuosos of the International Center for Music” concert at the Kauffman Center can be purchased at www.kauffmancenter.org; tickets for each of the ICM’s Guest Artists Series concerts are $20, with a subscription for all four concerts $60; tickets for each of the three remaining ICM concerts are $10, with a subscription for all three concerts $25.
