Park University’s International Center for Music will hold the inaugural concert of the ICM Orchestra on Tuesday, Nov. 15, starting at 7:30 p.m. in Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel on the University’s Parkville Campus. The concert is open to the public and admission is free. The concert will be the ICM directorial debut of Steven McDonald, director of orchestral activities, who began his duties at Park in August.
The concert will highlight 16 ICM students and five guest musicians performing the following selections:
• “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major” (BWV 1048) by Johann Sebastian Bach
• “Divertimento” (Serenata IV) by Bohuslav Martinů (this selection will feature violinist Igor Khukhua and violist Anna Sorokina, both from Moscow and pursing Master of Music degrees in performance)
• “Symphony No. 29 in A Major” (K. 201) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
This performance will be the final event in the 2016 portion of the ICM’s 2016-17 concert season. The next concert will be the ICM Young Artist Showcase, featuring selected ICM students, on Saturday, Jan. 28, starting at 7:30 p.m. in Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel.
