At Park University, our Minor in Urban and Regional Planning program is designed for students who want to become actively engaged in land-use planning and processes. Students in this program will pursue basic study in subjects such as urban geography and environmental planning to pursue further advanced study or careers in the field.

Locations & Learning Options

As a student in our Minor in Urban and Regional Planning program, you’ll be required to take face-to-face classes at our Parkville, Missouri campus and/or online. This minor requires a total of 18 completed credit hours, and students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Offered through our School for Natural and Applied Sciences, the Minor in Urban and Regional Planning program is designed to give students a broad understanding of the various areas of knowledge that go into effective land use planning. With courses that draw from communication, sociology, geography, public administration, criminal justice and economic justice, this program prepares the next generation of urban and regional planners for successful careers.

The Urban and Regional Planning program at Park University draws from many disciplines to provide students with a broad knowledge and understanding of the social, environmental and political aspects of land-use planning. After acquiring this fundamental knowledge, students may go on to pursue a more advanced degree that can lead to careers in urban development, environmental conservation and other related areas of planning.
