Why Study Machine Learning in Business?

A machine learning in business certificate equips you with the practical skills to apply statistical and machine learning models to real-world business challenges, using tools such as Python, SQL, and non-SQL databases. Through hands-on projects, you’ll gain the ability to move beyond basic charts to predictive analytics and informed decision-making with AI in business. Park’s Graduate Certificate in Machine Learning in Business lays a strong foundation for understanding the core of AI, including how machine learning powers technologies like Generative AI. Whether you’re aiming for career advancement or planning to pursue an ISBA degree, this certificate offers an immediate and future-ready advantage in a data-driven world.

What You’ll Learn

  • The machine learning in business certificate covers foundational coding skills in Python, focusing on data collection, manipulation, and visualization using key libraries in data science. You’ll also explore how poor data practices can distort business insights, helping you avoid common pitfalls when applying AI and machine learning in business.
  • In the machine learning for business program, you will learn to apply statistical analysis and data science techniques to solve real-world business problems. From identifying data points to generating actionable insights, you’ll use machine learning in business analytics to evaluate outcomes, understand limitations, and support informed decision-making.
  • You will learn how to access, clean, and manage big data using relational and non-relational databases, APIs, and standalone datasets. By mastering querying, merging, and aggregating techniques, you’ll be able to support machine learning for business use cases like fraud detection, predictive analytics, and customer segmentation.
  • The AI and machine learning in business certificate also delves into advanced machine learning models, including neural networks, clustering, time series analysis, and association rules mining. You’ll explore deep learning, interpretability, bias, and natural language processing—developing skills that bridge computer science and business to drive innovation through artificial intelligence.
  • Depending on your chosen elective, you could explore Text Analytics, where you’ll learn to apply natural language processing techniques like sentiment analysis, text summarization, and document categorization to extract insights from unstructured business data. Alternatively, Sports Analytics offers hands-on experience using statistical analysis, data visualization, and machine learning to evaluate player performance, predict outcomes, and support data-driven decision-making in the sports industry.
