Park University Interior Design Students Exhibiting Furniture of Reused Materials
January 7, 2026 — Park University is hosting “Reduce / Reuse / Redesign,” an exhibit of furniture created by interior design students that demonstrates creativity, craftsmanship and thoughtful reuse of materials. The exhibit is on display through Friday, Feb. 13, in the Campanella Gallery located inside Norrington Center on the University’s flagship Parkville Campus. Admission to the Gallery is free and open to the public.
According to Andrea Lee, Ph.D., director of the Campanella Gallery and associate professor of art, the students had three options in creating their furniture using objects and materials that were primarily found or reused, with minimal purchase from a hardware store.
• Constructing a furniture piece primarily from found or discarded objects.
• Taking an existing object with a completely different purpose and transforming it into a piece of furniture.
• Selecting an existing furniture piece and refurbish, redesign or reimagine it into something new, with the final result showing a significant transformation in form, function or material use.
