Park Assisting Coast Guard Students

Park University, which has supported U.S. military service members since 1918 when it accepted students who were inducted into the War Department’s Student Army Training Corps, is stepping in to assist members of the U.S. Coast Guard during the current federal government shutdown.
First Esports Coach

Park University, which became the first college/university in the Kansas City area to announce (in July 2018) that it would offer a varsity esports program starting with the Spring 2019 semester, has appointed Ashley Jones as its first esports coach. Jones began her duties at Park on Jan. 7.
Brown Appointed College of Management Dean

Kirby R. Brown, who recently retired after 40 years of military and federal service, has been appointed as the dean of Park University’s College of Management. Brown starts in his new role at Park on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019.
Missouri Humanities Council Grant

Park University has received a $2,500 grant from the Missouri Humanities Council in support of the University’s Spencer Cave Black History Month Lecture Series.
Kansas City Area Graduates December 2018

Park University held its December 2018 Kansas City Area Commencement ceremony on Dec. 8 at the Community of Christ Auditorium in Independence, Mo. The University had 433 students eligible to participate in the ceremony — 174 students received a master’s degree and/or a graduate certificate, and 259 students received a bachelor’s degree, associate degree and/or undergraduate certificate. Ron Blumkin, chairman of Nebraska Furniture Mart, presented the keynote address.
