  • Federal civil servant for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for over 16 years. While at HUD, responsible for monitoring regulatory compliance issues and providing technical assistance on HUD’s housing and community development programs to organizations in Kansas and western Missouri. Awarded the following while in federal service: President’s Council Year 2000 Conversion Medal for Outstanding Y2K Service (2000), the HUD Secretary’s Award for Restoring the Public Trust (1999), and the HUD Administrative Service Center’s Customer Service Award (1998).
  • Teaching emphasis in the areas of public administration and public management. Recipient of Park University President’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2012).
  • Publication and/or presentations in the areas of sustainability, public service values, and the application of path-dependency theory to public administration. Current research focus is on President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Cabinet.
  • On the boards of the Homeless Services Coalition of Greater Kansas City and the Greater Kansas City American Society for Public Administration.
