Associate Professor of English

Dees Stallings is an Associate Professor of English and Program Coordinator for Professional Writing. In addition to degrees in English, he is a graduate of the Army’s Command and Staff College.  He has received several teaching and program development awards. He is the former head of the US Army’s Communicative Skills Program and University of Maryland University College’s writing program.  He has published over 50 articles on various topics, including a series on the future of the virtual university and a short book on writing in distance education through Prentice-Hall.   His most recent work,

“The Plain Writing Act of 2010 and the Paradox of Technical Communications: Responses to a Communications Sea Change by Corporations, Government and Universities, Part III”

won the Best Paper award at the spring 2014 International Organization of Social Sciences and Behavioral Research conference.
