Writing Competency Test

Effective February 1, 2016: The Writing Competency Test has been discontinued.

The decision to terminate the Test with the current Catalog was recommended by the Faculty Senate and approved by Academic Affairs.  The Provost has decided under the circumstances that further administration of the Test during Spring would be inappropriate.

Some students may have paid the $25. fee, received a packet, but not yet taken the Test.  Cancel your testing plans and speak to your Campus Center personnel about receiving a refund.

Obviously, the WCT is no longer a prerequisite for EN306 or any other course.

During 2013-2014, 93.8% of students who worked with our writing specialists, either in person or through the Online Writing Lab, passed the WCT!

To schedule an appointment for individual help from a writing specialist on the Parkville campus,  go to Parkville Campus Appointments  to create an account and then access the schedule.

You can also ask your WCT questions online and even submit a draft for review with our Online Writing Lab!

Log into MyPark and enter the online classroom portal.  Choose the course PDL200: Online Writing Lab.

Once in the OWL, click "Modules" and then "WCT," and you will find important info there about taking the WCT and how/when it is scored! There is even a NEW WCT mini-course to help you prepare!
